Pearl River, established in 1956 and now the world’s largest manufacturer of acoustic pianos, has been developing a line of digital pianos over the last decade.  The company has been very successful with it in the domestic Chinese market, and is now expanding distribution internationally, including the U.S. and Canada. Some of the newest models feature technology developed in partnership with Korg.

In 2019, U.S. dealers began receiving the first GP1100 Digital Baby Grands, a model featuring a wide assortment of sounds, ensemble accompaniments, built-in songs, and a song-learning educational feature. In addition, Pearl River recently introduced a series of six vertical and two portable digital pianos with, the company says, the feel and playability of an acoustic grand, due in part to an Italian Fatar Grand-Response™ keyboard with weighted hammer-action, and digital sampling of renowned German grand pianos.
