This is a Sohmer Baby Grand Piano made in 1929. It is a 5'3', cupid model, serial number 48292, walnut finish, with padded bench.
This Sohmer is a high quality instrument with a grand piano sound in a baby grand size. It has a warm rich tone. The keys are still nice and crisp. Sohmer was one of the last piano builders to hand-make pianos in America, and their pianos are considered some of the best instruments this country has ever produced.
Purchased in 1978 in like new condition, this piano was well maintained over the years and has many more years of beautiful sound still in it. This piano was owned by C. William Veazey who performed for many years with San Diego's Civic Light Opera. It was lovingly cared for. With his master's degree in music he chose the Sohmer piano because of its rich sound and excellent manufacturing.
Based on the serial number this piano was built in 1929, it's an American classic. It is considered an antique now. This particular piano is listed in The Piano Book by Larry Fine as a highly regarded piano and manufacturer, comparable with Steinway.
