This Mason & Hamlin piano has benefited from the gentle Southern California climate. More than that, the strings, hammers, bushings and other components appear to be relatively newer with practically no signs of wear. The soundboard has tight seams and excellent structure which is evident in the rich, full sound.
The action is not particularly heavy and is very responsive. The furniture while not pristine, has a very pleasing appearance. The Model B Mason & Hamlin is unique in its wide tail which offers a larger soundboard area for a very big sound from a piano of its size. The patented Tension Resonator System provides extra support with a spider like metal bracing supporting the rim of the piano. This is why Mason & Hamlin pianos endure the ages better than other pianos.
If you appreciate the fat, immersive sound of a great Mason & Hamlin, this piano should be on your short list!
