This beautiful antique piano was made in 1899 by the A.M. McPhail Company in Boston. It was professionally rebuilt and restored in 2001.
According to the technician who did the restoration: “The rebuilding has entailed the complete remanufacture of the instrument to ‘like new’ condition with all parts rebuilt or replaced as necessary to ensure new piano performance.”
Myself a professional pianist, I worked with the technician during the rebuild and the piano was made to my specifications. It has a bright, penetrating sound and a fairly light touch. This is the way I personally like pianos (so did Horowitz), and it is also ideal for young or beginning students who may not have as much strength. That being said, both of these features are easily adjusted by a technician.
This is a concert quality instrument so it is ideal both for placement in a venue as well as in a home. It can support both casual playing as well as the serious practicing/performing of a professional musician like myself.
I am selling the piano for two reasons. 1. I am relocating and don’t have the means to take it with me at this time. 2. I just completed my master’s degree and I want to get a jump start on my student loans.
I am flexible on the price. It was recently professionally appraised at between 10,000 and 12,000 dollars. However, because I really need to sell this by the end of the summer, I am asking only $8000. Serious best offers will also be considered. This is a great deal.
The piano is located in my family home in the small town of Jasper, Arkansas and is available for show at any time this summer.
It comes with a matching artist bench and complete Dampp Chaser TM climate control system and both are included in the asking price.
