This Model L 'Art Case' Piano was designed by the late Arthur Vernay in NYC in 1939. He designed this one of a kind piano after a harpsichord, which was displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The piano features a Satinwood case, cross-banded with Tulipwood and bordered in Mahogany. There is inlaid work of floral roundels and interlaced ribbons enclosing tiny blossoms.
The keyboard is inset with three eighteenth century Wedgewood blue and white Jasper medallions. The square tapered legs crested with floral dies and matching shaped stretcher. Ivory keys.
This decorative, but elegant, piano was acquired from the original owner since 1959.
It has a beautiful tone and has been well kept. It is in great condition.
