Knabe 6'1' Grand Piano
Mint condition Knabe grand, 6'1' approx built 1900. Serial number is between 48,000 and 49,000, hard to read the 2nd number in the stamp. Piano rebuilt in 2001, played for 1 year, performer moved away and the piano was not played again regularly until 2010, very gently used. Dampp-Chaser was installed from day one so no cracks or damage during the years that it was not played. Comes with adjustable bench, same color, Dampp-Chaser installed and piano cover. Rebuild included strings, pins, shimmed soundboard, all felts, hammers, shanks, flanges, keytops, capstans, damper flange barrels, wippins are from a George Steck grand piano. Agraffes for all 88 keys, single strings for upper treble section and a separate bridge for some tenor strings, so 3 bridges in total (bass, tenor, treble). Case is oak and a beautiful finish in dark cherry to show the oak grains. Very beautiful instrument and part of a rich lineage of american pianos from the turn of the century. Built in Baltimore.
